Poetry. The word alone is enough to make high school English students tremble, or to make parents’ eyes tear up when they learn the thousands of dollars in tuition they’ve spent is going toward junior’s pursuit in majoring in the subject.
While poetry is not for everyone, haikus and rhyming schemes need not to cause total fear/boredom. As April is National Poetry Month (it’s a thing), we’ve scavenged through the depths of the Instagram and have compiled a list of some of our favorite online wordsmiths – those who have used modern mediums to distribute their work and further prove that through social media those with talent will find a way to get noticed.
While you won’t see any references to men from Nantucket in their poems, perhaps they’ll inspire you to begin your own journey toward literary greatness… or simply give you something to recite your other when trying to get lucky.
In Celebration of National Poetry Month, we have highlighted our favorite wordsmiths that you should follow. Save your eyes rolls, these publishers are gaining massive followings and getting publishing deals.
